Team Italy put on a great show as the final competitor of the Globalfest fireworks competition. They were the defending champions from 2010 and have won again in 2011. See the complete set of GlobalFest Italy fireworks photos.

Finally posted the photos from Team Canada’s fireworks show. I tried a different vantage point this time to include the VIP tents. It’s a bit different, but I still prefer shooting from the South bowl. Team Italy and the finale’s photos will be posted soon. See the complete set of GlobalFest Canada fireworks photos.

Wow! Team Philippines is my favorite out of the 3 so far. I had a hard time choosing which photos would make the gallery cut. Team Canada’s photos will be posted soon. Up next will be Team Italy on Thursday. See the complete set of GlobalFest Philippines fireworks photos.

Team China put on an awesome fireworks show Friday night. They used a lot of overlapping fireworks which made it difficult to decide when to close the shutter. There was a lot of smoke which drifted toward the viewing areas, but it only obscured the low fireworks around the launch site. Up next will be Team Philippines on Sunday. See the complete set of GlobalFest China fireworks photos.

I’ve been trying to get fireworks photos in the context of their event or location, so for Nanton that meant either planes or grain elevators. My original plan was to include the Canadair T-33 Silver Star at the Bomber Command Museum in the photo, but it’s mounted too high. The Avro CF-100 Canuck was the right height, meant the power/phone lines would be more prominent. Oh well, if I really want to spend the time I can edit them out. Most people probably wouldn’t have noticed if I hadn’t pointed them out. Next year I’ll try to include the grain elevators. See the complete set of Nanton Round-up Days fireworks photos.

I didn’t get around to shooting the Calgary Stampede midway or fireworks from the grounds this year. Going to the Strathmore midway made up for it. There were fewer rides, but also fewer people to work around. The fireworks show was short and intense. I think it was better than the Calgary Stampede show. See all the Strathmore Heritage Days and Stampede Fireworks photos.

Chestermere had a great fireworks show at the Water Festival this year. The fireworks are launched from a barge in the middle of Chestermere Lake. In some of the photos you can see a boat with some of the fireworks crew.

Each year I try to find new places to take pictures of the Calgary Stampede fireworks. This year the photos were taken from Blackfoot Trail and above the Inglewood Golf Course. See the complete Calgary Stampede Fireworks photo gallery.

The Calgary tower was lit on July 7th in honour of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge’s visit. Since it was lit from 10PM until midnight, I was able to shoot from few locations.
